Final Review

Our Product: Shockers The Beginning Our final project was a product pitch. We had to come up with an original idea and use all of the different components we learned throughout the year to create it. We used video to create our commercial, graphic designate to create our logo, banner, and ad, web design to create a website for our product that has all the important information, and we used animation to create a 3D visual of our product. The day we started our project with our groups, we began listing off random ideas.  The Process None of our product ideas had to make sense we just wanted a list of ideas we could narrow down to one. After narrowing down our ideas we decided to go with Alex's idea of a candy that gives you superpowers. During our time in graphic design/web design we came up with a theme for our product. We wanted it to be an eighties kind of feel with bright colors. Overall we wanted our product to be kind of cheesy especially in our commercial. It took u...

Shockers

Image
This is my commercial for the quarter 4 project. Our group product is called Shockers. It's a candy that gives you super powers for a limited amount of time. The super powers are teleportation, telekinesis, time travel, speed, strength, and invisibility. We wanted our commercial to be cheesy, but still funny. We wanted to give more than one example of how our product worked. We represented teleportation and telekinesis. For teleportation we had Alex act like he was running late to class when a "voice from above" gave him Shockers to help him get to class on time. We made sure to add some humor so it wasn't a boring monotonous commercial. When we did telekinesis we wanted the problem to be easily replaceable. The problem was Gabby didn't have a pencil for class so she looked around and spotted one that was to far for her to reach. To show the pencil "flying" we tied fishing line to the end of it and had Alex controlling the string. To go along with the c...

My Dream Home

One thing I like about my house is the detail I added. The flowers around the porch took a long time to add. I had to make sure the flowers were actually touching the ground. I had to get the flowers as evenly spaced out as I could get. The flowers had to match a color scheme and design.       Another thing I liked about my house was the porch. The house looked flat and had little shape before I added the porch. The porch added more dimension and shape to the house. I

Photoshop

For this project I used the clone stamp a lot to copy the effects of the butterfly flapping its wings. I also used the shortcut command+U to edit the colors on the butterfly's wings. It was difficult to make the wings look like it was flapping its wings. The shadow couldn't be too dark or too light and it had to be placed in the right spot.   In this project I used the mask tool the most. It was difficult for me to arrange the text where it was supposed to be. After messing around with the tools I was able to arrange the text where I wanted it to be.  In the last project I used the mask tool and clone stamp. This project combined all of the skills and tools we learned from the other projects. It was difficult arranging the pictures in a logical place and making sure the raven was cut out as straight as possible. It was also difficult making sure while I was removing the light posts and cars it looked natural and nothing was left behind. For the first project...

My Logo

Image
My logo is a fake coffee shop I would create. It's called After Midnight Cafe because it would be for the night dwellers who stay up late and like to have a place to go. The dark blue almost black represents the night sky. It is supposed to be calming and peaceful for the customers. I chose this font because it has a nice look that is not too serious but still professional.

Subconscious Colors

Image
Before learning this information of colors I already knew briefly about colors having different meanings. I did not know that colors really had an impact subconsciously in our everyday lives. We learned that companies specifically used certain colors to get our attention or make us feel a certain way. The thought of companies deliberately choosing colors never occurred to me before this. I knew about logos representing something but not color choices. I also never knew about all the different types of color schemes. I always thought monochromatic was just black to white. I didn't know jot was the whole color wheel that could be monochromatic.

The Interview

Throughout video I enjoyed editing the most. I learned how to properly use Final Cut Pro, even though I have never used it before, and shortcut keys to make editing easier. Learning shortcut keys really helped during editing. If I had to use the long process of clicking in the toolbar each time editing would have taken much longer. If it was that way I don't think I would have enjoyed editing as much.Throughout video we used the 6 shot sequence and learned how important framing is. If your actor's head is cutoff you have to redo the shots because it doesn't look nice. It's like taking pictures of people, but in motion. If you cut the head off of a person in a picture the picture doesn't look as good as it could have been with a full head shot. In the future if I don't go into filming I know I can use skills I learned in this class in a different field. The 6 shot sequence I could use in photography because taking pictures are like still frames in video. Overa...
