Final Review

Our Product: Shockers

The Beginning

Our final project was a product pitch. We had to come up with an original idea and use all of the
different components we learned throughout the year to create it. We used video to create our commercial, graphic designate to create our logo, banner, and ad, web design to create a website for our product that has all the important information, and we used animation to create a 3D visual of our product. The day we started our project with our groups, we began listing off random ideas.

The Process

None of our product ideas had to make sense we just wanted a list of ideas we could narrow down to one. After narrowing down our ideas we decided to go with Alex's idea of a candy that gives you superpowers. During our time in graphic design/web design we came up with a theme for our product. We wanted it to be an eighties kind of feel with bright colors. Overall we wanted our product to be kind of cheesy especially in our commercial. It took us a while to decide what our product name and catch phrase should be. Originally Shockers was going to be our catch phrase but we decided it would work better as our product name. Our catch phrase saws originally, 'Be the hero you've always wanted to be', but Mr. Olsen said it might be too long. So we shortened it down to Be the Hero.

While designing our logo and product look we definitely wanted there to be a superhero theme and comic book theme. Following up with those we wanted to incorporate how in comic books when there is an action there is the starburst around the word, so we added that around shockers. We also added a fist to represent power because of the powers you get from our product. For the color scheme we wanted it to be eighties colors that are bright and bold. We chose green as our main color for our product and had red as the accents.
To chose the right color we used colorschemedesigner.com and found the right shades of green we wanted use. In the graphic design section we mainly used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I used Dreamweaver to create the website. We used Final Cut Pro to edit our commercial and ISM Films to add background music and sound effects. In animation we used Google Sketch Up to create the animation.

The Final

It was very anxiety inducing making sure the website was finished before the presentation day. We stayed after school though and made sure everything was looking good and there were no problems. Our group worked well together and got along great. We were all pretty easy going and could agree on things easily. I think our project turned out great. The only thing I would change was our time management. We did get our project finished in time, but to relieve the stress from the day before our presentation make sure we have a couple days to make sure everything is set. I would keep the same group. The group I worked in was great. We worked well together and got along easily. All of us had our own specialty in a strand. When creating our whole project it was easy to divide up our tasks because we knew what our strengths were and what our not so great areas were. After getting used to each other it was easy for us to communicate. This project was a good way to incorporate all of the things we learned throughout the whole year. I definitely needed some brushing up on some sections, but once things got rolling everything came back.
