Final Reflection
In the Beginning of time….
I
was a terrified potato with not many acquaintances or friends in this class. I
already had basic knowledge of video from freshman year video. The first
project we did was a basic skills video showing the six shot sequence. I
partnered with Katie, who I have known since elementary school-thank Jesus it
was someone I knew. Our video was pretty good and we clearly displayed how to
log in to the student Wi-Fi.
I
soon became closer friends with Mallory, Sydney and more acquainted with
Alyssa. I also got my first dose of Roan, which I think I regret. Throughout
first semester I came out of my hermit shell and less of recluse.
Unfortunately, I did discover some not so great people; I won’t name names…at
MB.
In
the middle of the semester we did a step-by-step project doing a routine. My
partner was Katie-again- and I did her routine over her after school athletic
trainer, she did a routine on how I make cupcakes. That was probably one of the
only good projects this year.
The In Between...
Oh…. Second quarter and all
the drama, from Allam to MB. That was quite the hectic time. All the rumors and
the flaky substitute teachers (they didn’t know much and were pretty bad at
helping). Ugh, the constant issue of the bloody computer and Scribbles “typing
notes”, but actually playing video games *eye roll. Surprisingly the class got
their work done, but it was quite the blur.
THE
DRAMA, in class helped us bond a bit more, not like we’re all friends, but
closer. I became friends with another Indian, Jasyeet, after joining their
lunch table once she left. We had a
great bond over One Direction and all the tea spilling…we got dirt.
Once
we returned from winter break there was a surprise… JEFFERY COOPER. He is quite
the chill teacher and is quite easy to get along with; despite with his
constant attempt to say I’m his favorite, what lies.
The Last Act...
Third quarter was the start
of my entertainment career. We were
divided into groups and had to create a script for a short movie. I was in a
group with Jasmeet, Roan, Scribbles, and Alyssa. Our story was about two guys
who see a girl in a café and fight over her through video games, but they learn
that she is actually a lesbian. …That was a terrible first act. We used the
green screen room after our attempt to film at Pour Coffee House went down the
drain. The scenes with just Scribbles and Ryan went well, but the audio and
background were bad. It was not our best work. I was the camera operator and
set up all the shots. Thankfully, I got out of that movie while I could and
moved on to… The Potent Rock.
The Potent Rock was as bad as it sounds and
it did not improve in the next two acts I worked on in that group. I was in the
group with Alyssa, Cooper, Jared, and Thomas.
For act 2 I was the camera operator again. I enjoy doing that job, but
the shots were pretty bad. I should have used a tripod, but I just don’t like
setting it up. This is something I have carried with me since freshman year.
The end results showed when Thomas was editing and the shots were shaky. The
best shot from act two was the scene where Jared was chasing after Alyssa’s
car. I was in the back seat filming Jared, it was a great dolly shot, except
for the fact that someone was in the background.
The
audio sucked throughout the whole movie. I definitely need to work on my audio
skills because I struggled a lot with trying to set up the boom stick and
getting it to work.
I
have improved in my editing skills. I know how to put in a background while
using a green screen. Shout out to Adam to for teaching me.
I
would definitely change how bad Potent
Rock acts 1 and 2 turned out. They are something I will hide from for the
rest of my life; it will haunt me, along with Adam’s white dancing from our
Hotline Bling video.
Overall
this year was drama filled and hectic. This was a great year for me because I
made some new friends (Jasmeet, Mallory, Sydney) and learned more about video.
I can implement this knowledge next year in my Entertainment class. I will
definitely miss our lunch table and all of our fond memories. I think I deserve
an A for all of the hard work I have put in for my work and I have never played
the worm game. My best work this year
was the Hotline Bling video. Mr. Cooper that was a dope video and you cannot
deny that, despite Adam’s terrible white dad dancing. Honestly, I will miss
this class and all of our fond memories.
