Costume Design

In the article from No Film School, the writer emphasized the idea that the way an actor is dressed is equally important as the way the actor is lit and framed. The costumes serve as another tool to communicate to the audience the scene, setting, and the character's persona. Along with that, the costume should be consistent in portraying the character's style, yet stand out from the background.c

In the class feature film I took the role as costume designer. For this role I had to come up with costume ideas for each actor to wear that would fit the mood of the movie. I first asked Brady what kind of vibe the actors and film would have and based my ideas off of that. Since the film was action and the characters were everyday people. costumes were easy to do. I created a Polyvore page at the beginning to give actors an idea of the outfits I wanted them in. I also created a Google spreadsheet to organize costumes by filming date, scenes, and the actors. This was helpful until filming dates got moved around and the dates got messed up. I learned that I definitely need to contact the actors earlier so they had the time to get their costumes. I would do the spreadsheets again and polypore but I would try and get the costumes out sooner and be more creative.

AB Sequence

In the  AB Sequence project I learned that you use almost all the same components as the 6 shot sequence. The only difference is that there are 2 sets of of 6 shot sequences and a few in between shots. In my next project I will try to incorporate different angles instead of the same angles each time. When I incorporate different angles it will make my video look more interesting. In a collaboration you combine two or more things together to creae one whole thing.  In this project you had to combine two 6 shot sequences with some extra shots in between to create one video. Having a partner also requires collaboration. We had to work together and use two activities of her choice and combine the clips into one video.

Semester Reflection

Looking Back... At the beginning of the year I was terrified because I did not know who everyone was and I thought I was going to be a loner. I became friends with Sydney and Mallory which helped. We have been doing convergence journalism, in my opinion, it sucks. I think entertainment will be better.  The projects we have done are: basic procedure, an audio story, an ONW now feature story, a report on the school blood drive, and out ONW Now segment. The key invent of this semester was Allam getting fired. It really messed up the flow of the class because the sub knew nothing, I personally did not enjoy her company, and everyone was confused about what to do. The other key event was producing the ONW Now show. It was kind of stressful having to plan things out and make sure everything got finished. I did enjoy my group, we worked smoothly. The class did not have enough computers for everyone so someone had to use the teacher's, but a student left the class so a free compute...
